Frequently Asked Questions
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a medically approved way to relax the body and the mind to reduce stress, relieve pain, change patterns of behavior and break unwanted habits. Through hypnosis, the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions. Hypnosis is a gentle state of heightened focus and concentration. It’s the naturally occurring state of mind you have while day dreaming or that comfortable feeling just before falling asleep. When the body is relaxed the mind relaxes and allows the body to find its own way to heal and improve itself. .... Hypnosis works
How EXACTLY does hypnosis work?
Everything you have learned is stored in your subconscious mind, right down to the way you walk or drive your car. It holds memories and associations all the way from conception to present.
Unwanted habits such as, smoking or overeating are stored in your subconscious mind. Habits you’d like to keep are stored there as well. Your favorite learned activities, such as playing tennis, biking or playing chess are all “there.” The process of hypnosis gives your subconscious mind suggestions for change or improvement. As you enter a state of deep relaxation and connect with the subconscious, post-hypnotic suggestions are given. Of course, these are your goals, not the hypnotherapist’s goals. Success depends on the client’s motivation, and the commitment to hypnosis they’re willing to make. Some goals are reached immediately, while others take more reinforcement. Each individual is different.

how can hypnosis help me?
Because hypnosis is a key to access your subconscious mind, and because your subconscious mind contains all the memories, programs, data, emotions, directions to your body so you can function, and everything else that makes you who you are, hypnosis can work on just about anything. It’s even used to reduce or eliminate pain, and to tell the body how to heal. Hypnosis can build your self-confidence and lift your self-esteem. Hypnosis can remove mental blocks (like writer’s block), remove false beliefs, and prepare you for major success. You can increase your concentration, improve memory and recall, and eliminate test phobia. Mothers use it in pregnancy and in giving birth. There are simply too many uses of hypnosis to list in the section. This should say it all: even Albert Einstein used hypnosis.
who can be hypnotized?
Anyone with an open mind, reasonable intelligence, the ability to concentrate, and a willingness to go into a relaxed state of mind.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE hypnotized?
You will be able to hear, remember, and experience everything that is going on around you. Hypnosis is a very pleasant feeling of complete physical and mental relaxation. Often, when you are in hypnosis, you find that your mind is active. You hear every sound in the room. You find that you can resist the suggestions if you choose to. You realize that you are not asleep, and that you are able to remember everything perfectly.
can A PERSON BE HYPNOTIZED AGAINST THEIR WILL OR MADE TO DO ANYTHING AGAINST THEIR WILL?
You are always in complete control. You are totally aware at all times. No one is able to be hypnotized against his or her will. If people were, hypnosis would be the most closely guarded secret on the planet. Entering hypnosis is a consent state. The hypnotist assists the subject, who then hypnotizes him/herself.
WHAT ABOUT PANIC ATTACKS OR PAIN ISSUES?
Hypnosis relieves anxiety and panic attacks. You can use the power of your mind to turn down the pain and swelling of arthritis. You can relieve, control and eliminate chronic pain or phantom pain. You can lower your blood pressure. Hypnosis will help you improve sleep, return to sleep and stay asleep. Hypnosis will help you stop smoking (86% effective), and it will help you to release unwanted weight. Hypnosis removes phobias, lowers stress levels, and will improve your athletic or academic performance.
WHAT KINDS OF PROBLEMS RESPOND BEST TO HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis provides excellent results for general self-improvement, stress reduction, increasing self-esteem, confidence, overcoming fears and phobias, (such as fear of flying, panic attacks and public speaking), controlling eating habits and weight loss, pain management, and increased motivation for success. Thousands have found success, for example, in permanently quitting smoking and improving focus and success when taking exams. Hypnosis also helps athletes enhance their performance.
can i be forced to do something i don't want to do under hypnosos?
Not at all. You will only be given positive suggestions that align with you morally and intellectually. You will be in control at all times.
will i be able to remember what happens during my hypnosis session?
"Remembering what happens" depends on the depth of your hypnotic state, your personality type and how conditioned you are to hypnosis. Different issues require different depths. You will be completely aware of what’s going on. As your hypnotherapist, I merely guide you in connecting to your subconscious (where everything gets stored) so you can achieve your desired outcome.
IS THERE ANY PROOF HYPNOSIS IS REAL?
The American Medical Association accepted hypnosis as an effective treatment modality more than 50 years ago. Additionally, the Mayo Clinic states the following: "Hypnosis may help you cope better with certain medical conditions, stop unwanted habits or reduce stress related to medical procedures. The effects of hypnosis can be long lasting and can improve your overall quality of life." Albert Einstein regularly used hypnosis to help him to develop his ideas. Some claim that the theory of relativity came to him during one of his sessions. Millions of people throughout the world, including hospitals, doctors, surgeons, therapists, professors, coaches, and more, are now using hypnosis for just about everything. See the section titled, “Celebrities Use Hypnosis to Succeed.”
Dr. Milton H. Erickson, the father of modern medical hypnotherapy, believed that we all have the innate ability to heal ourselves (he overcame polio by utilizing self-hypnosis). He discovered that, by using hypnosis, we can access those parts of our minds that control our habits, our perceptions, our healing, desires, and our preferences…those parts of our minds that decide who we are, how we are, and how we will be in the future.

what happens during OUr first session
We get to know each other. We begin by looking closely at the areas you wish to focus on and the changes or improvements you wish to make. Then you'll sit in a comfortable chair and simply listen to my voice as you enter a relaxed state. You'll be given specific suggestions that help achieve your goals. When your session is over you will open your eyes and feel refreshed and relaxed.
